Last night the doctor’s started taking Chris off the sedative, so he was more awake than he has been. He did not want Tiff and Earl to leave his side and refused to go to sleep. Tiff and Earl suspect that this is because he is avoiding sleep so that he can avoid the nightmares. He finally went to sleep around 3 a.m., and this is when Tiff and Earl finally left for the night. In order to get enough rest to maintain their own health, Tiff and Earl are going to have to try visiting Chris in shifts, which will be much harder than it sounds.
There was some good news after the wound care this morning. All the grafts seem to be sticking down tight. Chris does still have some bleeding, but that just means that he has good tissue underneath all the burns. Because of the bleeding, though, they did have to give him some blood, which is pretty normal for a burn of this depth and size. Chris has a fever, which means that he has some kind of infection somewhere. The doctor suspects that it is still his lungs, but is performing tests and cultures to determine exactly the source of the infection. Chris handled the bandage change very well for being off the sedative, which shows just how strong he is.
Although the hospital was planning to remove the breathing tube today, they got busy with other patients and ran out of time to get it out with enough time to monitor him before nighttime. The breathing tube is really irritating Chris because it prevents him from talking. He is also unable to write, like he did the last time the tube was in, because his arms are splinted. The splints are there to minimize the moving and bending of his arms, especially the grafts around his elbows.
One of the high notes for Chris’ day was his parents reading him all of the great comments that are being left on this site. Tiff and Earl really appreciate it and say that it lifts his spirits. Another highlight was his visit with Kaleb, Sam, Diego and Andy.
Apparently, you can teach an old dog new tricks, because I was able to get a hit counter to work. I started it tonight at 125 hits, which is a pure guess. Even though we have this working now, please still leave comments for Chris!

CANNONBALL, WHAT IS A CANNONBALL??
Well you are son; solid, hard, steel, somewhat round, and potentially devastating to the enemy. I know it seems like that day you got dealt a 2/4 combo on the first two cards, pretty bad huh?? I have some great news buddy, the next three cards out of the deck are all fours, and you WILL win this hand with a whopping four of a kind. Chris read that card I sent with Tonya, and believe it. Every day when you awake, put your best foot forward, and better what you did the day before, and this to shall pass. I talked to the big man today, the boss, the higher power whom I choose to call "GOD", and he said you'll be fine dude. I'll check on the site tomorrow, have somebody put a cool picture of you showing me the bird or something. Buy the way you look somewhat sexy in a gown.

Dear Chris, Tiff, and Earl,
The minute I heard of your situation I started praying and have you on other prayer chains...the power of prayer and the inner strength you have are undefeatable. I know the road is long and the challenges change constantly, but I also know if anyone can do this, you can!
I spent 51 days in the hospital, 3 months in a body cast, and missed 5months of my senior year of high school and I even gradutated! I know that you are stronger than I was. Anything is possible.
Know that you are cared about and loved by many people. God and I are on your team. You are stronger than you imagine. You have already shown unbelievable fortitude.
Melissa is a blessing to all of us, too, for doing this blog. Catch the positive vibes coming your way from Carlin!

Hi Chris,
I couldn't believe it when I got back to Carlin and heard what had happened to you. What rotten luck! But as Mrs. Wright said, you are strong, both physically and emotionally, and you will make it through. You are in my prayers. In fact, I think everyone in Carlin is praying for you and thinking about you constantly. It must be nice to know that so many people love you.
Get well soon. We need you back here.
Ms. McDonald

Hey there Chris, Terrance here wanted to let you know I'm thinkin bout ya every day. Then I thought you might want to know whats going on so: It is hotter than a queer eating a hot dog outside and underground. Also working for a livin is not for me so if you come up with another way to make it without working and want to experiment before you go out into the world let me know. Then I thought you might want to know some stuff: elephant's can't jump, all polar bears are left handed, sound travels 15 times faster through steel than air, and 50% of the worlds population has never recieved a phone call Ha Losers pizza at the factory isn't as good without ya and I cannot harrass nobody with as much satisfaction as when your there plus I don't get the sauce I hope you feel well today and hope to see you home soon. lv hope and prayers T.
Hi Chris, Earl and Tiffany
I was so sorry to hear about this accident. I do wish you all the luck in the world. Even though you don't really know me, I am your great aunt Faye. I am your grandpa Joe's sister. We live in Wisconsin and love to talk to your mom and dad. When you were small your mom and dad brought you to visit and we use to live on a Lake and you loved to fish. You would stand on the end of the pier and would catch lots of bluegills. We were so sorry to hear about your accident but as soon as we did we started praying and telling everyone that we knew that would also pray. You have prayers going from the west coast all the way to the east coast and from what it sounds like you have the whole country praying for you. Way to go Dude! Keep your thoughts and prayers positive and the good Lord will do his part in helping you heal. If you ever need anything, we are just a call away. Not saying that we could get it or do anything for you but we sure would try like the devil to get it done for you. Stay positve in your thoughts and we will pray for you until things are back to normal. Make sure your parents take care of themselves also as they need their rest also. We all love you and wish you the best and a speedy recovery. Will keep in touch.
Love You!
Aunt Faye
