Today makes two weeks since Chris’ accident and he has certainly come a long way. Wound care went better today, it took less time and seemed to be less painful. This is partially because they didn’t have to do his legs. Chris was able to get in his chair today and leave his room. They didn’t let him leave the burn ward yet, but at least he got a slight change of scenery. The hospital evaluated the possibility of removing his stomach tube, but decided against it since his stomach is still healing. Hopefully that will come out in a few more days. Since his arrival, Chris has lost 14 pounds.
Chris seems to be struggling now with some depression. He is becoming reluctant to talk with visitors, the hospital staff and his parents. While he still has to undergo many physical struggles, it seems like the focus will be shifting now toward the mental struggles. Hopefully the increased mobility that the chair offers will help cheer him up a little bit. I am certain that all of the well wishes he is receiving from all of you will help as well.
On Thursday, we will be traveling again to Salt Lake City to spend a four day weekend with the Hyatt’s. I will continue to post from there, and truly hope that we can witness some of Chris’ toughness and resilience first-hand.

Hey there Hyatt family. when i heard about your accident I was scared and sad. Even though we dont talk much, I still miss you making us laugh at school. Or when i would go into pizza factory and you would always ask me if im naming my baby chris. Well i hate to burst your bubble, but im not naming him chris. Well i admire your strength. Your progress amazes me. Well keep up the strong hard work, I know you will make it through. Get better so you can lead the Chris Rebelliion (haha). Im keeping you and your family in my prayers. Hi Chris Tiff and Earl, pretty cool!!! about the chair just one more step closer. well they sprayed again for mosquitos today. I'll tell ya they are Huge and Mean the worst I have ever seen um. Chris, I'm so glad you were able to get up and around yesterday. It's another one of those small steps that all lead to getting better and better.
I imagine at times the long road to recovery becomes overwhelming. And, it's easy to get down mentally and emotionally. But remember how strong you really are and how much you are loved. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. You'll come out of this long journey a much stronger person who will never take the little things in life for granted.
Now that you're more mobile, your mom and dad will need to keep a close on eye on you so you're not chasing the nurses down the halls.
Keep your chin up. We think about you all the time, and we're praying for you.

Love you much and have MORE AND MORE people praying for you. I know that it's hard to stay positive after all you have been through but you are doing a wonderful job. Keep it up and don't be afraid to talk about things with your parents. It really helps.
